Lighthouse framed mini print - Based on an original free-motion sewn design by Bek Tainton
This print captures the texture of the fabric and the stitch detail of the original artwork in a vibrant and fun design.
This design was originally sewn for a friend and colleague who was leaving to start a new life with her husband far away from home. They had been married on Plymouth Hoe, so I chose that as my inspiration for the design. I spent a long time thinking of the words to go with my lighthouse design as a card and mini print, that would really mean something to the person receiving it. I settled on 'Let your light shine brightly' in the end, because it seemed the most optimistic and the most celebratory. This mini print could be given for any occasion, but it's particularly good for letting someone know how amazing you think they really are. It would be a great gift for passing exams, or a driving test, a new job or for a personal achievement. Or just because. This design is also available as a greeting card, a postcard and as a print (see separate listing).
Free motion sewing is literally like using a sewing machine to draw with, where the fabric is the paper and the thread is the ink. The only difference is that the fabric (paper) is moved under the thread (ink) rather than the other way around! I use a 50 year old Pfaff sewing machine, that belonged to my grandmother. There's no fancy tricks or modern technology, but I wouldn't change my machine for the world!
